Gunnar Kramer Keynote Speaker - Gunnar Kramer

Tracking migratory songbirds to inform conservation

We're excited to host Dr. Gunnar Kramer for our keynote speaker! Gunnar is a new Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management at Iowa State University. He holds a B.S. from the University of Wyoming, an M.S. from the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. from the University of Toledo. Prior to joining ISU in January 2024, Gunnar was a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University.

Gunnar's presentation will highlight different ways tracking data can be used to assess bird space use across the full annual cycle using geolocator data from both Golden-winged and Blue-winged Warblers. He will also discuss how these data can be used to better understand the movement ecology of migratory songbirds and ultimately inform conservation strategies for these important species.
